I am very excited to welcome you to the 2020-2021 school year at East Jackson Elementary school! I am blessed to serve as Principal here at this wonderful school.  This year will be my 23rd year in education and my 21st year in Jackson County. I began my career in my home state of Virginia teaching fifth grade. My husband and I moved to Georgia in 2001.  Since then I have been a fourth grade teacher at SJES, served as the assistant principal of Maysville Elementary School, South Jackson Elementary School and here at EJES.

EJES is a great place to be! Our students are bright and talented and we strive for greatness every day!  We have many exciting things going on from innovative classrooms, unique learning opportunities for students, after school clubs, celebrations,  and much more! Our teachers are amazing and they work very hard to provide a rigorous, standards based curriculum that is tailored to the individual needs of our students. We believe that East Jackson students deserve the very best and we work to ensure they get it every day.  We stand by our motto, “Expect More, Achieve More,”

At EJES, we welcome your input to ensure that our school is the best!  I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and your child throughout the year.  If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to come by the school or you can contact me by phone at 706-336-7900 or email me at apennington@jcss.us.  Thank you for all of your support!

I am beyond excited to be joining the East Jackson Elementary School family for the 2021-2022 school year. For over 15 years it has been a privilege to serve as an educator. Throughout that time, I have had the opportunity to teach students at the middle and high school levels, enjoyed serving as an elementary school counselor, and supported schools from a central office position. Most recently, I have had the honor of supporting incredible students and amazing teachers  in a neighboring district working as an elementary school assistant principal.

Serving the students, teachers, and families of the community in which my family and I reside is something in which I approach with great pride and responsibility. In making the transition to EJES, I will be joining my wife who is also a teacher in JCSS and our daughter who is eager to enjoy learning as a 2nd grader here in Jackson County.

I truly believe that educators have a great responsibility to model the kindness, curiosity, commitment, and drive needed to thrive and ensure that each and every child we get to serve has all the support and tools necessary to become successful, happy, and thriving members of our community.

At EJES, we are committed to excellence and lead with our motto, “Expect More, Achieve More.” We are family at EJES and welcome your input and the opportunity to work with you to ensure your children thrive as Eagles and get everything they need to become successful lifelong learners.

Please do not hesitate to reach out at any time by phone at 706-336-7900 or email me at asemard@jcss.us. Thank you for your collaboration and support!
